Improving Public Services Consultancy

My client was formed by ex-McKinsey consultants (they are all extremely bright!), they work the full project life-cycle from strategy through to implementation. Projects include:

  • Strategy & business planning
  • New clinical models
  • Digital transformation
  • Org design and transformation
  • Operational improvement (inc lean)

Most of their clients are London and SE based so travel is kept to a minimum, it’s rare for anyone to have to stay in a hotel. Project durations vary from 4 week to 6 months. They do not have a sales target culture, are very humble people, the office is very collaborative and a lot of their work is through referrals. Everyone who joins has one thing in common – you must be passionate about improving public services (especially within the NHS).

The levels are: Junior Consultant – Consultant – Senior Consultant – Principal Consultant – Managing Consultant – Director (hiring from JC to PC)

Interestingly they do not have a traditional MD or CEO, there is a shared leadership group of 7 and recent employees have been promoted to the top-level (with share owenership!). They hire from a variety of sources - other consultancies, teachers, doctors, in-house public sector etc.

They are 20 consultants currently with plans to grow by 8 by the end of the year.
